We hopped on the ferry at 10 am, after breakfast on the quay, and dozed our way across to Dunkirk. We dodged a few icebergs, heading North towards Cumbria, but it was an otherwise uneventful trip.
Driving on the right, when we remembered, we pottered on down to Sangatte, the French end of the Channel tunnel, for a walk on the beach, past the statue of Hubert Latham, famous French aviator who almost crossed the channel, and inspired Bleriot.
After a quick stop in Wimereux to replenish stores we travelled on to a Passion ( a Passion is a place where you stay for free but are expected to buy some local produce) near St Omer, to spend the night in a cider orchard, after tasting the cidre, which was very moreish, and went well with a ham risotto, cooked up by Nigella Jennings himself.
