We set off without any particular target and ended up in a lovely village called Verteuil-sur-Charente. The Missus spotted a cafe in a watermill for lunch, so we sat on a terrace overlooking the mill race, and stuffed ourselves on tranchoirs; these are the ancestors apparently of pizzas. They were very yummy; all cheese, ham, fromage fraise etc. The bases were baked from the mills own stone ground flour; we bought some flour and will try a bit of tranchoir baking when we get home.
In the afternoon we cycled to the neighbouring village of Nanteuil (all the local names are unpronounceable). This was quite a mission at 22km round trip and did work off some of the tranchoir. Colin did get a few scraps of tranchoir but as he and Penny had to be rickshawed about, the ride being on roads, he didn’t burn a lot off. His foot is better now.
We spent the night in an aire adjacent to the local park, with one or two other motorhomes which pitched up during the late afternoon.

'flogging your undies on'? I don't think you'd get much for yours!!
