Friday 24th June. Carnac.

We set off from St Jean at 11am, heading North, and flicking through the books to plan the day, as we do, came across Carnac, a megalithic site, which was quite close and had been recommended by Chris, my brother in law and senior IT consultant.  He was on hand when Carnac was being planned I understand.....some of the lines are a bit wonky.

It is a prehistoric site in Brittany with 3000 plus standing stones, all arranged in lines, quadrilaterals and individually, very impressive. They were erected between 3,500 and 8,000 years ago. The function is not certain, perhaps some sort of calendar? Tho' it does seem a bit over the top to arrange some 50 ton boulders to remember to get an extra pint of milk for the Mother in laws visit.
